Fun to use, I was surprised to receive alternate bases. I found that I had to run the lead hotter than with aluminum molds.

5/5 an excellent mold, well made and produces perfect bullets both with pure lead and hardened lead, including pure Pewter i’m shooting them through a 7.5″ barrelled pietta .36cal navy and at 25yards i’m getting 1″ groups from a 15v 11.2 grain charge of pyrodex P. shot from a rest and 1.5″ groups free hold using one hand, at 50yrds with this bullet i was getting 6-7″ groups and at 100yards from a rest a 12″ group. I am more than happy with this mould and bullet, and put through a .358 sizing die i can load these into my .38spl rifle cartridges, its a great all round bullet, with melted down shotgun pellets i was getting 149grns by weight (without cavity) and 125-128grns with the conical hollow base shape supplied with the mold.. either with a card wad infront or used in a roll up cartridge, this bullet shoots very well in my .36’s owing to the fact that pietta bore their barrels and cylinders tight at .360 diameter which is the same belt diameter as this bullet, i was looking for a 38 hb mold that replicates the horned 148wc bullet and this is the closest i’ve found so far and it more than equals the performance, I came across MP moulds by accident by reading an american authors blog on bullet casting, I don’t live in the US but was pleased to see that MP moulds ship worldwide, so i took a gamble. I can’t praise the workmanship of this bullet mould making company enough, i can definitely recommend them, from payment and order it took only 3 days for my mold to arrive – i was and still am very impressed- well done to MP molds.

In my long life as bullet caster/reloader (almost 40 years) I have never used HB molds. I am very pleased with the ease of use and the quality of the gear. With the proper alloy (BHN 8-10 measured with an LBT hardness tester) the bullets make their job perfectly. Anyway: may I suggest that the excelent website of MP incorporate a little tutorial with tips and tricks for the mould assembly and for the best use?
