My first MP Mold …first of what I think will be many. This mold is real quality. A bit heavier than Lee Mold so takes some getting used to but what a mold. It makes really nice sharp bullets.Heat retention is much better. I have used it twice and can see my improvements as it settles in. I use this mold for 9mm , no sizing lubed or powder coated , this is a accurate bullet and like all molds I have bought from MP they have been excellent and true pleasures to cast with , the mold block alignment pins are tapered and allow the blocks to close and open better then other brands , the heavy steel sprue plate has been true and precise on each mold , cast hollow point or solid and enjoy .

used a hot plate for first drop. perfect. needed to use crocus cloth on several pins so they would slide. other that great. first time with a brass mold and had to learn to regulate the heat in the mold for easy releases. thumps up. !!!!

I ordered my mould on a Monday and received it the next Monday evening.I cleaned it early Tuesday then heated head pot and mould and casting (20lb pot),977 bullets later refilled the potshot it down.Iculled 41 that did not suit me.Iamvery much satisfied with this mould, it got to fell a little heavy later into the casting due to my arthritis.It is not my favorite 9mm/38 mould but I can imagine it could become so.IfIcould give it a 6 star rating I would.

So far this mold has done incredibly well as all molds do it takes some getting used to it and I’m still working that curve but my initial results have been some very nice hollow points that are showing perfect expansion…they seat just like a FMJ and can be seated with the same COL unlike the LEE that have to be seated extremely deep to function properly. Overall I would recommend this mold.
Even had a couple of the Cross pins that had damaged threads a couple of emails later and new ones are on their way now.

Being new to bullet casting I have no prior experience with bullet molds. Though I have loaded my own ammo for about 40 years now I find that the bullets from this mold is excellent. the 125gr. H/P bullet fired from my 6″ .357 magnum into ballistic gel opened up to 16.73MM!! loaded with 8.0 gr. unique powder giving me appx. 1260 f.p.s per my chrony. I believe as I reach my casting zen I will be making cast bullets far better than I could purchase. Happy with purchase.

Cast up about 250 bullets with this mold over the weekend and as with all my other MP HP molds I have, it was a dream to cast with. If you want a HP mold, and have a great experience first time casting HP’s especially one that cast penta points in multiple cavities, do yourself a favor and use a MP mold, you won’t regret it.

This was my first MP mold. It looks and feels like a quality product. It takes some used-to in comparison to Lee molds:
1. Do not expect to heat up the mold by casting, it is not going to happen. Heat plate is needed.
2. Alternate filling sequences – from back to forth and forth to back to avoid creation of “cold” areas.
3. To release sticky bullets, hit the handler, not the mold
4. Use copper wool to remove stubborn lead droplets from the brass surface
5. Throughout the molding session, mallet hitting will cause pins’ screws to get loose, keep hex wrenches handy
The only reason I gave 4 start is that pin and its connectors require fitting combination as some do not allow the pin to move freely under own weight. But this is a minor obstacle.
Will buy more molds in the future.

Almost as good as my MP .402-165 mold. The only thing I can complain about, is that I have to squeeze it together tighter than my other mold. If I don’t squeeze the handles harder, I get that seam on the sides, and a tiny “wire edge” overflow at the tip of the hollow point. It is easily scratched off with a fingernail (almost small enough to just be rubbed off), and does not affect the performance. I’m fairly new to casting, but my neighbor who has been doing it for over 40 years says these are the best molds he’s ever used. If you’re used to the older molds from other people, the temperature tends to need to be a little higher, and don’t forget to clean them well before using them. I also highly recommend using a pencil to graphite the tip of the hollow point pins. I’ve only cast a few hundred with this new mold, but it’s well built, and anticipate using it for the rest of my life. I have no doubt it will last thousands and thousands of rounds. Very well built, and worth every penny.
