First let me congratulate the M-P mods team. They are very professional, communicative, and punctual with excellent quality, competitively priced products.
I purchased 477-640 HP Gas check, 2 cavity mold for its ~385 grain hollow point gas check designed and dual crimp groves. This is the perfect weight for my FA83 revolver using its 480 Ruger cylinder at about 1,130ft/sec (HS-6 powder). With the upper crimp groove the overall cartridge length is 2.770″ and it delivers a 5-shot pattern of just under 1 1/2″ at 10 meters from a 4 3/4″ barrel (factory iron sights). I use the accompanying ~410 grain flat point gas check configuration in my .475 Linebaugh lever action carbine – again a very good weight and design when using the lower crimp groove. The overall cartridge length is 2.785″ and I attain consistent 1″ groups at 1,440ft/sec (Blue Dot powder) from the 18″ barrel at 100m using a Sig Sauer 2MOA holographic sight. Texas feral hogs don’t stand a chance; one shot, one hog.
